It was Bridgnorth who started the quicker and went ahead with an excellent penalty after some early pressure, but from the kick off the visitors felt the response and Tom Hardy levelled with a well struck penalty of his own. The home side showed they were prepared to move the ball around and some lively handling saw the visitors stretched from side to side, before some good old fashioned grunt and shunt saw Spartans cross from a lineout, Hardy adding the extras. Minutes later Spartans added to their lead when good hands saw the backs release Michael Blair for an excellent score, with Hardy again slotting a simple conversion. Not to be outdone Bridgnorth hit back with an interception try that really should have been converted, and at half time it was anybody's game with a 17 - 8 scoreline favouring Spartans
The second half began well for the home side, and working really hard in both set and loose they added another penalty from the increasingly reliable Hardy. Keeping the pressure on, Spartans took their chances well with Captain Michael Bennett adding a fine try after some good support play, Hardy again converting. Bridgnorth showed their mettle by hitting straight back, and growing in confidence Spartans were forced onto the back foot. Consistent good play by the visitors saw them scramble over for a much deserved try, but again the kick was missed. By now Bridgnorth had their tails up and were looking to close the gap further, and with Spartans losing no less than three players to yellow cards, the sin bin overflowed. As the clock ticked away, the visitors tried to go through, round and over the defence but Spartans somehow defended their line and escaped downfield when they were awarded a rare penalty. Good work off the ball from winger Alex Danish saw him seize on a Bridgnorth mistake for the all important bonus point try, and Spartans were finally worth their win.
