Spartans welcomed a strong Nuneaton side to Coppice Lane, with Spartans going up the hill and against the elements it was the visitors who started brightest and within minutes Spartans found themselves 5 points down. In a closely fought contest Spartans edged their way up the slope and after a period of pressure in the set piece the home side scored a valuable try of their own, Tom Hardy kicked the conversion and at half time the score was 7-5.
The second half was contested in similar vein, both sides tried to play good rugby and when Michael Blair intercepted a Nuns' pass to extend the blacks lead, Spartans started to capitalise and secured another try after some sustained pressure at scrum time on the Nuns' 5 meter line, Captain, Michael Bennett getting the score and leaving the field of play with a split eye at the same time. Game finished 21-5 as Tom Hardy added both conversions to the second half scores.
This week Spartans travel to Kidderminster in the cup. All support welcomed.
