Spartans 42, Barkers Butts 7

Spartans welcomes Barkers Butts to coppice lane to kick of their league campaign. This was certainly a game of 2 halves. The first 40mins saw both sides working hard but unforced errors plagues both teams as neither could really get going. Spartans kicked a penalty, Barkers ran in an interception and Spartans kicked another penalty to make it 6-7 at the break.

The second half saw Spartans going down the slope and from early on they showed their intent with some slick handling and an improved scrum. Barkers competed well but were stretched as Spartans ran in 5 scores to make it 42-7 at the final whistle. Tries came from Matt Southam, Alex Bennett and Alex Garbett.

This week Spartans travel to Nuneaton Old Eds, all support welcomed.
