Spartans 65, Coventry Dunlop 3

Spartans welcomed Coventry Dunlop to Coppice Lane on an Autumnal Saturday afternoon and proved too strong for the visitors.

The first half saw Spartans go up the hill and after receiving the kick off it didn't take long for the home side to get on the score board when full back Alex Garbett glided down the touch line to score in the corner. Dunlop bounced back and managed to create some pressure, this resulted in a penalty making it 5-3. Spartans fly half Will Sharpe cut through to add a second score for the home side with Andy Bushall who was wearing the number 8 shirt this week adding a 3rd within quick succession, this was the only score from a forward this week. Although the Spartans pack were working hard to win set piece it was the backs who walked away with the glory. Jamie Parker ran one in from the wing to secure a bonus point for the home side before half time.

The second half was at times a scrappy affair with both sides working hard to retain some possession but it was Spartans who capitalised on going down hill and the blacks back line ran in a further 7 scores. Alex Garbett with another 3 making his total 4 for the day, Will Sharpe adding his second and Jack Sharpe, Matt Southam and Tom Wayne all adding one each.

This week Spartans travel to Rugby Lions where one of the sides will lose their unbeaten start to the season. All support welcome.
