Coppice Lane played host to a cracking game of rugby in what was certainly the weekend for it. Spartans were fielding a very inexperienced back line but it is fair to say that the men in black more than stood up to the challenge and the skipper will have certain head aches come selection time. The first half saw Spartans go up the hill and against the slight wind, with both sides getting their share of possession it was the home side that took their chances with centre and full back Matt Perry and Matt Southam getting on the score sheet. Pinley were more than in the game with a decent try of their own but a red mist took their hooker for a 10 minute rest, Spartans were able to capitalise upfront and after some applied pressure, number 8 Michael Foulds found himself with nice try to add to his collection.
The second half started in much the same way with Spartans showing they were in control, Matt Perry and Matt Southam both getting a second try each and young winger Andy Hyslop running in 2 excellent tries of his own to complete a fine afternoon for the home side.
This weekend Spartans travel to Nuneaton Old Eds for their penultimate league game of this season.
