Spartans took the early lead with a penalty from close quarters and was followed 5 mins later with a cross field kick with a slick interplay between Dan Reeves, Judd Smith and a great side-step from Jon Arnold to take the lead.
Matt Jones converted it taking the score to 10-0.
Handsworth came back strong, good support play and missed tackles from Spartans made the second 20 mins difficult for the visitors. Handsworth capitalised with a well worked forward try running from the halfway line to bring the score to 10-7.
After halftime Spartans got back into their rhythm and scored again from scrum half Adam Riley. Handworth replied with another try bringing it to a close 15-14. All in all either side could have snatched the win.
Spartans man of the match was Scott Horton who had an outstanding game on the back row.
