Spartans 3rd team travelled away to a well organised Woodrush 2nd team, whose previous fixture had seen them best table topping Edwardians.
After a sloppy opening 15 minutes in which Woodrush ran in 3 tries, Spartans began to dominate possession and field position. Camped in their opponents 22 for 24 minutes , Spartans' return of 8 points (Lees with a pick and go try from 2 yards and a Jones penalty) was scant reward for the domination the pack were exerting. This profligacy was compounded by the final play of the first half that saw Woodrush steal the ball at the lineout, and score their 4th try.
The 2nd half followed a similar pattern with Woodrush scoring an early try. Again Spartans' pack were in the ascendancy and a try followed, for Kennard (from a 5 yard lineout).
Unfortunately, further trys for Woodrush saw a final score of 40-15.
