The Stags bounced back from their lacklustre performance last week to put their season back on track with a clinical demolition of Tamworth 2nd team.
It was important to get a strong foothold in the game to rekindle confidence, and the home side dominated the early exchanges leading to first half tries from Worthington, Howell and a long distance score from Else. The returning Stewart orchestrated affairs in the backline and added two conversions to send Spartans in to the break with a healthy 19-0 lead.
Into the second period the Stags managed to breach the Tamworth line on a further 4 occasions, but were unlucky to be called back on all but one of these instances for earlier infringements to disallow the tries.
As is always the case, with the rotation of players into the final quarter the continuity of Spartans’ play faltered. A last minute score from Tamworth allowed them to register on the scoreboard in an otherwise dominant Stags’ performance.”
