Spartans Small Blacks 35 Camp Hill Under 12'a 10
As the fog lifted over Coppice Lane so did the standard of play between these two well matched squads, with both coaches taking the opportunity to give everyone a run out.
With kicking out of hand being banned by the coaches, both teams had no alternative but to run and pass the ball, even on their own line.
This gave both sets of players the opportunity to show off their handling and off-loading skills, and made for a thoroughly enjoyable game for the spectators and players alike.
Spartans, first try was one of the best they will score this year, when Harry Williams jackled the ball from Camp Hill, on the Spartans line, and 4 phases later he created the space on the edge of Spartans 22 for Fin Sly to join the line from full back and run the length of the pitch, for the first of 4 tries Fin scored on the day.
The match also saw the first, of surely many, tries in Spartans colours for Bruno Prestridge. Tom Sherriff, who in the final minutes of the game stripped a player twice his size of the ball to prevent a 3rd Camp Hill try. The last score came from the ever consistent Dylan Whittington, who mazy run continues to confuse the opposition. After the game Camp Hill voted fly half Sam Philips-Harvey as Spartans man of the match for his attitude and organisation of the back line.
