On Sunday, the Spartans U8s got their new season off to a cracking start with an away fixture at Walsall. The team adapted well to the larger pitch size and increased player count of the U8s game, while up against two strong Walsall teams.

Every one of the Spartans played with outstanding effort and enthusiasm, and the same positive attitude that we saw last season. There was some fantastic tagging on show, as well as dazzling running rugby in attack.

Ethan and Harry P played with huge energy and commitment, making important tags and carrying the ball forwards to gain ground at every opportunity.

Hannah ran with confidence, and used her size to squeeze through the smallest of gaps in the Walsall defence to score one of the tries of the day.

Harry H and Imogen both consistently provided an outlet down the wings with their pace, and made a number of really well executed and crucial tags in defence.

Poppy coordinated the defensive wall brilliantly (something which will become more and more important this season), and worked tirelessly for her team in both defence and attack.

Thanks to all the players for their hard work, Walsall for being great hosts, and (as always) the parents that came along to provide support!
