Ludlow 56, Spartans 14.

Saturday's final encounter of the season proved a bridge too far for Spartans and, against such formidable opposition, they never looked like reaching the level required to live up to their own high standards.
With Spartans suffering from the effects of car lag, Ludlow produced a complete team performance, overwhelming their opponents with a potent combination of power, pace and accuracy. Ludlow winger Will Sparrow was the highlight for the home side and his imperious display on Saturday typified his team's improvement 7 months on.
The Men In Black tried hard for the full 80 minutes, but eventually they were ground down and punished for every mistake at every opportunity. The contest was in stark contrast to their earlier meeting in the season at Coppice Lane, which Spartans won 26-10 despite playing more than half the game with 14 men.
Ludlow, unbeaten since December, were left wondering how they failed to secure a top two finish on the evidence of this game, but one game a league campaign does not make and Spartans will look back on another encouraging season in their short history with pride, having achieved fourth place in a very competitive environment.
